History of North Carolina Firearms Coalition
2016: NCFC Is Founded
The North Carolina Firearms Coalition is launched as the state’s only no compromise gun rights organization. From day one, NCFC makes clear: it exists to pressure politicians, mobilize gun owners, and stop weak-kneed Republicans from selling out our Second Amendment rights.
2016–2021: Laying the Groundwork for Constitutional Carry
NCFC relentlessly pushes for Constitutional Carry and other pro-gun reforms in Raleigh, while defeating repeated attempts at gun-control schemes like Red Flag laws and so-called “universal background checks.” Through email, digital, direct mail, and videos, NCFC begins educating and mobilizing tens of thousands of gun owners.
2021: New Leadership, New Growth
Chris Dorr, one of the Dorr Brothers, with over a decade of grassroots gun rights leadership across the country, takes the reins of NCFC. Under his direction, NCFC builds out statewide pressure campaigns, ramps up digital and mail operations, and begins turning passive gun owners into a devastating political force.
2023: Pistol Purchase Permit REPEALED
Facing enormous grassroots demand for Constitutional Carry, the North Carolina General Assembly pulls a relief valve and passes Senate Bill 41, repealing the state’s outdated pistol purchase permit law. NCFC celebrates the win, but makes clear that this is just the beginning — Constitutional Carry remains the goal.
2024–2025: The Fight for Full Permitless Carry
NCFC leads the charge for Senate Bill 50, North Carolina’s full Permitless Carry bill. After a grassroots surge, the bill passes both Chambers of the legislature. Governor Stein vetoes it — but the Senate overrides his veto. Now, NCFC is rallying gun owners to achieve the final step: a House veto override that would make Constitutional Carry the law of the land in North Carolina.
The Future: The Second Amendment Protection Act
State Rep. Brian Echavarria has introduced the Second Amendment Protection Act (SAPA). This legislation would bar state and local officials from enforcing federal gun-control edicts. NCFC is preparing the fight to make North Carolina a national leader in pushing back against future federal gun-control schemes.
