I am sick of this.

You and I already did our part. We pushed SB 50, Permitless Carry, through both chambers. It passed. And then Josh Stein vetoed it on June 20, 2025, because he thinks your God-given right to carry a handgun ought to come with a permission slip from Raleigh.

The Senate at least had a spine. On July 29 (of last year!) they overrode him 30 to 19 and put their names on the board.

The House has been playing possum ever since.

They even had it on the calendar August 5 and still wouldn’t call the override. That is not strategy. That is a bunch of politicians hoping you get tired and wander off before November.

Look, I know how this works. If they thought they had a quiet yes, they’d have slammed the gavel already. They don’t want a roll call because a roll call names the people who are waffling. No vote means nobody has to explain themselves at the grocery store, at church, or at the ballot box.

I do not care how they dress it up. Leadership controls the calendar, but every member can demand that bill come off the shelf. The ones who support permitless carry need to say so out loud and vote YES. The ones who don’t need to own it before gun owners fill out a ballot.

If the override fails, at least we will know who stabbed us in the back. What I will not accept is another month of the politicians treating a God-given right like a political inconvenience.

Your right to carry does not come from the Speaker’s calendar and it sure as heck does not come from Josh Stein. Government exists to protect that right, not sit on it until the election is over.

So do this for me today. Email your State Representative and tell them to put SB 50 on the floor and call the override. 

And if you can spare $15 after you send it, that keeps us on the phones and in inboxes this week. I would rather ask you for that than watch this thing die in a drawer.
