H.R. 7166 was introduced in Congress on Jan 20. The very next day, North Carolina’s Rep. Valerie Foushee (NC-4) added her name as a cosponsor. She didn’t need convincing.
|
The bill calls itself the “Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act,” and it means it. Only licensed dealers could sell ammo, which ends private sales between North Carolinians. Every buyer would have to show a photo ID to the dealer in person, which effectively ends online orders shipped to your home. And anyone buying more than 1,000 rounds in five business days gets reported to the Attorney General and to state or local police.
|
It now has 23 cosponsors, all Democrats. The newest, Rep. Troy Carter of Louisiana, joined Oct 5. The bill has sat in the House Judiciary Committee since January without a hearing.

Rep. Foushee has told you where she stands. Now let’s get the rest of North Carolina’s delegation on record against it.

P.S. Face-to-face ammo sales only, no private sales, and police reports on bigger buys. Foushee’s for it. Sign against it here.
